About Tignes

The town of Tignes is comprised of a number of smaller residences including Tignes Le Lac and Tignes Val Claret. Tignes is part of the Espace Killy ski area which is one of the largest ski areas in the world covering over 300km of pisted slopes suitable for both novice and experienced skiers and boarders alike.

The Espace Killy resort is also linked with the world famous resort of Val dIsere which is only a couple of ski lifts away from the centre of Tignes Val Claret.

The ski lifts themselves have been recently developed, with the Espace Killy resort benefiting from millions of Euros worth of investment, making it one of the premier resorts in the Alps. Nearly all lifts have been replaced to ensure fast, efficient access to all parts of the resort, with most chairlifts capable of carrying 6-8 people at a time. The resort has 113 snow cannons which produce 450,000m2 of artificial snow each year ensuring pisted slopes are available throughout the whole season.

The Espace Killy resort is also renowned throughout the world for having some of the best off-piste areas in the world, with hundreds of guides to show experienced skiers and snow boarders some of the best powder runs in the world.

The Grande Motte glacier at the top of the valley also allows for some superb skiing, although it is closed for a couple weeks each year due to the glacier receding over the past few years.

Numerous mountain restaurants and bars are located throughout the resort suitable for all ages, from quaint restaurants overlooking Tignes to packed bars offering younger crowds the chance to dance the afternoon away with a well deserved vin chaud after a full day of skiing!
